Rhonda on a vibrator machineI retired two years ago, after a 43 year career in Medical Technology. As a Technologist I worked in a hospital laboratory where my colleagues and I performed medical laboratory testing. These tests were performed on various pieces of instrumentation. In order to be sure that these instruments were performing optimally we did something called Daily Preventive Maintenance. We cleaned instrumentation parts and made sure everything was running properly. We ran quality control specimens to be sure that patient specimen results, when run, would be accurate. This assured us and the providers that all patients would be treated properly. Daily Preventive Maintenance and quality control are mandated by state and federal regulations in order for laboratories to be certified and accredited. We care about our patients and their health.

Let’s think of our bodies. Like laboratory instrumentation, we want to keep our bodies running optimally. Therefore, we need to take care of ourselves by performing our own Daily Preventive Maintenance.

It’s imperative that we do this consistently. Let’s think of it like this. We all have appointments that we make — with our physicians, our dentists and our eye doctors. I refer to them as “all of my ‘ologists.” They all routinely check us to make sure that our bodies are running properly. And if they are not, adjustments are made to correct this. These checkups can alleviate the need for emergency appointments! When we make our appointments with these physicians, we write them in our daily planners, put sticky notes on our refrigerator, and put them in our cell phone calendars. We don’t want to miss our appointments!

I make my own Routine Daily Appointment. This includes activities that keep my body and mind moving. Just like appointments I make with my doctors, I do not miss these. If for some reason there is a conflict in times, I merely reschedule for later in the day. Here Is my Routine Daily Appointment Schedule.

  • Toe separatorHydrate – 16 ounces of lemon water.
  • Vibrate  – 10 minute Vibration plate workout.
  • Separate – separate my toes
  • Meditate – 20 to 30 minutes
  • Ambulate – 15 minutes on the treadmill
  • Aerate – outside to fill my lungs with fresh air

After this, my body is prepared to continue optimally throughout the rest of my day… including  nutrition, exercise and mindset.

Create your own personalized routine, one that fits your abilities and needs. Try out new things to see which ones help you the most!!

So when you answer your internal phone and it says, “This is the confirmation of your Routine Daily Appointment…press #1 to confirm; press #2 to decline”, my suggestion is to press #1 for your optimal health. Your body will thank you for it.

The doctor is in… the doctor is you!!
