Tofu gets a bad rap, but it is easily flavoured, and is an excellent source of protein.

Ingredients

  • Extra firm tofu-whole block
  • Liquid smoke
  • Tamari
  • Smoked paprika

Directions

  1. Put tofu in casserole dish.
  2. Drizzle on a tiny bit of liquid smoke, tamari, and sprinkle with smoked paprika.
  3. Flip over a couple times to get seasoning on both sides.
  4. Put in 300° oven, for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Remove and let cool, then slice block as desired.
  6. Sprinkle with tamari.
  7. Grill on a cast iron grill pan, each side, until golden brown.

Your tofu slices will taste rich and smokey, terrific as a meat substitute in many dishes. It’s especially delicious on grilled ciabatta buns with vegan cheese, mayo, spinach and red onion.
